SWIM TO LOSE WEIGHT

Getting started~“I generally recommend one indoor and one outdoor activity if possible, explains Joëlle Jolly, Sport and Health educator. To get an overweight person to start working out, I think swimming is a good idea: in the water, we only weigh 20% of our body weight. Swimming uses all your muscles and uses a significant amount of energy. It works all muscle groups, but is easy on the joints”.

NORDIC WALKING TO LOSE WEIGHT: BETWEEN FITNESS WALKING AND RUNNING

The educator recommends Nordic walking as an outdoor activity because you use your upper body more than for traditional walking. Marie Chevalier, Nordic walking instructor, confirms this. You use 40% more energy Nordic walking than for traditional walking. You accentuate the natural swinging movements of the body, particularly the upper body. As a result, you work your arms, pectoral and stomach muscles. You will soon see results. Nordic walking is also a good way to get started, before moving on to running”.

CYCLING IS GOOD FOR YOUR ABS!

Cycling is also recommended for losing weight: “you don't necessarily feel it, but when cycling, you naturally work the lower body, buttocks, thighs, but you also use your abs to keep your balance”, concludes Joëlle Jolly.
